Where to list and promote your Peterborough business

Practical options for a useful local profile, city-centre promotion and business support - without promises of rankings or sales.

Start with a useful local listing

PeterboroughDirectory.uk is our independently published business and community directory. Standard listings are free, with new submissions reviewed before they go live. Search for your business first to avoid a duplicate; if it is already listed, use the edit option to request a link sent to the address on file.

A useful profile explains what you do, where you are based and the areas you genuinely serve. Choose relevant service tags, add a working website or phone number and use a current image you have permission to share. Your contact email stays private unless you opt to display it publicly.

Keep your wider online details consistent

An eligible Google Business Profile is free to create and manage and can help customers find you through Search and Maps. Check Google's own rules before setting one up, particularly for home-based, service-area or online-only businesses. Look for an existing profile before creating another.

Use the same accurate business name, contact information and service area across your website and listings. A plumber working from Werrington should explain the places they cover, not invent a second address in Hampton. An accurate profile is more useful than a collection of abandoned listings with old phone numbers.

Ask about city-centre promotion

Peterborough Positive is the city-centre Business Improvement District. It is a relevant organisation to ask about local campaigns and collaborative promotion if your business is in its area. Do not assume it offers the same services to every business across Peterborough or that participation is automatically free.

The city council also publishes advertising and sponsorship opportunities. These are commercial enquiry routes, not a free council listing for every business. Ask about current availability, costs and conditions before committing, and choose a placement that makes sense for the customers you want to reach.

Separate support from advertising

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Growth Hub provides business advice and support. It can be useful when starting up or planning growth, but support is different from publicity and does not guarantee funding or new customers. Check the conditions of any programme directly.

Our optional FastTrack + Featured offer gives priority review and more prominent placement within this directory. Standard stays free; the maintained How it works page explains current prices and renewal terms. Neither a directory listing nor an upgrade guarantees Google rankings, enquiries or sales. Keep your details current and ask customers how they found you to judge what works.
